Snoop Doggs Responds to SNSD Biscuit Comment

After causing confusion and anger amongst K-Pop fans, Snoop Dogg has finally responded to what his previous tweet concerning Girls’ Generation (SNSD) meant.





On July 11, Snoop Dogg tweeted, “Today’s lesson. From. Professor Snoop. Biscuit = ugly faces.” And “My ladies (SNSD) got beautiful faces. Legs n. thighs. No biscuits.”




In the photo, he posted a picture of SNSD and Kyochon fried chicken as well as a smiling photo of himself.

With his recent tweets, Snoop Dogg cleared up his confusing tweet and implied that he was not insulting SNSD.

On July 8, Snoop Dogg tweeted, “Legs n. thighs. No biscuit,” and attached a photo of SNSD with their faces blurred out and only legs showing, causing many fans to become mad.

Snoop Dogg was previously featured in a remix version of SNSD’s The Boys.

SNSD Becomes Models for Casio’s Baby-G Watches

SNSD has become the new spokesmodels for Casio’s Baby-G watches.

A deal between SNSD and Casio has been reached in which SNSD will advertise for the popular line of women’s watches.

In addition to Korea, SNSD will model the brand in China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Australia.

A representative for Baby-G said, “With K-Pop’s popularity soaring all over the world we chose SNSD, who is in the center of the K-Pop boom, as our model and we plan to raise the brand value and profits of Casio.”

The first advertisement featuring SNSD for the brand shows the members donning colorful sporty outfits against an orange backdrop while showing off the Baby-G watches on their wrists.




As part of the casting of SNSD as the brand’s models, all stores operated by Casio in Korea will hold a 10 percent discount sale on Baby-G watches from July 20 through August 5.

SNSD Becomes First Celebrity to Get 1 Million Friends on KakaoTalk

Everybody wants to be friends with Girls’ Generation (SNSD).

On July 7, SNSD broke the one million friend mark on the social networking service, KakaoTalk’s Plus Friend feature.

The Plus Friend feature allows the user to add his or her favorite celebrity or brand and receive text messages with the most updated information about them.




SNSD’s Plus Friend feature began in December of 2011 and fans from Korea, China, USA, England, and 150 different countries added the group to their friend list, allowing SNSD to become the first celebrity to reach over one million friends.

Friends of SNSD on KakaoTalk are able to receive news about the group’s schedules, concerts, photos, videos, and other media.

SNSD’s Yoona Didn′t Need Touch-Ups for Her Commercial

SNSD’s Yoona’s doe-eyes are being featured in her new upcoming commercial.

After becoming the model for Ciba Vision’s ‘Fresh Look Illuminate’ contact lens, Yoona recently held her shooting for the brand’s advertisement on July 1. The behind-the-scenes cuts of which were released on July 12.

For the advertisement, Yoona will be showing six different concepts including a sexy diva concept, a pure goddess concept, young college student concept and more.

Despite having to make the various transformations in a short amount of time, Yoona showed a relaxed and composed nature from beginning to end while surprising everyone with her appearance which needed no digital alteration or touch ups.




A member on set for the advertisement shoot shared, “I’ve worked with countless advertisement models but this is the first model I’ve seen who comes out so beautifully in pictures. We didn’t need to make any touch ups to the picture afterwards.”

The first advertisements by Yoona for the brand will be unveiled in mid-July.

Cross Gene ‘La-Di Da-Di’s onto ‘Elle Girl’ Magazine

Still babies in the K-Pop scene, rookie group Cross Gene had the opportunity to modelfor fashion magazine Elle Girl.

Dressed in black, white and gray, the Cross Gene members flawlessly appeared as handsome models with their tall statures and natural poses.




Shin and Takuya also appeared as twins, having a separate shot with just the two of them.

In the interview with Elle Girl, Cross Gene showed off its title song La-Di Da-Di, saying that it can show the charms of three countries as the members are from Korea, China, and Japan.

Cross Gene’s Shin is also currently acting in KBS’s Big as Kang Kyung Joon.

The pictorial and interview will be included in the August issue of Elle Girl.

SNSD Tiffany Helps Abandoned Pets as a Birthday Present to Herself

With her 23rd birthday coming, it seems that Girls’ Generation Tiffany wanted to give back to the community by participating in a photo shoot to help abandoned pets.



In a recent photo shoot with CeCi magazine, Tiffany transformed into a pink princess, surrounded by an entire room painted pink along with pink furniture and matching outfits.





Tiffany wore many flashy and adorable accessories for the shoot, 13 of which will be put up for auction on CeCi’s website. The proceeds will then be donated to an animal humane society under Tiffany and CeCi’s name to protect abandoned animals.



The auction will begin on July 23 and will continue until August 6.

C-Clown Holds Its First Fanmeeting

The rookie idol group C-Clown held its first ever fanmeeting.

On July 29, after performing in SBS’ Inkigayo, C-Clown got together with its fans.

The members said in thanks, “We’ve just made our debut, and we’re thankful that you’ve shown your interest and come to see us.”

In the ‘five letter talk’, in which the members had to answer only in five Korean letters, leader Rome showed off his sexy dance while Siwoo pulled off a ‘ppuing ppuing’ to cheers from fans. C-Clown also gave out t-shirts, high-fived with everyone and held a photo session for each member.

The members then returned home to tweet about the fanmeeting. Rome tweeted, ‘I’m sad because it was so short, but I enjoyed it. I don’t think I’ll ever forget what happened today,’ while Kangjun said, ‘I want to thank those who were there in the hot weather.’

T.K said, ‘Please come for our next fanmeeting’ and Maru said, ‘Please look forward to seeing how we grow. I’ll look forward to seeing a lot of funny placards, too.’

A rep from C-Clown’s agency Yedang Entertainment said, “It was a small but meaningful ‘first fanmeeting’. We offered to hold many events like this in which we can get closer to the fans and communicate looking into each other’s eyes.”

C-Clown is currently promoting its debut single Solo.

‘Haeundae Lovers’ Releases Two Humorous Main Posters

KBS released two new main posters for its upcoming drama Haeundae Lovers on July 31.

The first poster shows the drama’s full main cast on a boat. While the two leads, Kim Kang Woo and Jo Yeo Jeong, do the infamous ‘Titanic pose’ on the boat’s bow, the rest of the cast members can be seen in various humorous poses including fighting to take over the boat’s helm, drinking soju and slipping overboard.

The second poster also is done in a humorous fashion with Jo Yeo Jeong’s hauling up a fishing net with fish and Kim Kang Woo in a suit. On the poster is written, “Love caught coolly!”

A drama production staff shared, “The merits of Haeundae Lovers, which will bring refreshing laughter and amusement during this hot summer, are the drama’s characters who will grab the hearts of viewers in a new way. As the two posters show, the drama’s entire atmosphere is not solely a romantic comedy that will tell a love story. We ask viewers for your support and views.”

Haeundae Lovers will premiere on KBS on August 6.

‘Infinity Challenge’ to Hold Last Round of Design Exhibitions

The Infinity Challenge Design Exhibition is being held again, this time in Seoul’s Yeongdeungpo.

The exhibition is a free event that displays the 250 figure and product designs that were turned in to the MBC Infinity Challenge Design Contest held late 2011.

The exhibition started on April 3 in the head shop of the Lotte Department Store in Seoul, and moved through Paju, Ilsan and Busan. It is now being held in the Lotte Department store in Seoul’s Yeongdeungpo from July 27 to August 12. So far, the number of visitors to the exhibition surpasses 50,000.

The head of MBC’s Domestic Business Team, Kim Young Kyu, said, “We hope we can again feel the viewers’ love for the program through the Infinity Challenge Design Exhibition, just as we felt in the Infinity Challenge Photo Exhibition. We hope you understand why we can’t hold exhibitions in more areas, and we also hope many people come to see the last Infinity Challenge Design Exhibition.”

A few items that were chosen through the contest have been produced into actual products, and are being sold in the exhibition’s gift shop.

The exhibition is supported by Lotte Department Store.

EXID Welcomes New Members Sol Ji and Hye Rin

EXID, the girl group produced by hit maker Shinsadong Tiger, will be coming back with a pair of new members.

The team’s agency revealed photos of the new members Sol Ji and Hye Rin, and announced that the group was preparing for its comeback in August as a five member group with new colors.

Sol Ji, who is to be the main vocalist of the group, previously debuted with the group 2NB and proved her potential.

She even showed off her wit and ability to imitate others on variety. Vocalist Hye Rin made it through a strong wall of competition to enter the group with her explosive vocals and dance skills.

EXID’s new mini album plans to show off the group’s upgraded musicality, as well as a more mature look.

A rep from the group’s agency said, “We want to thank the fans who continued to show interest and support in EXID’s comeback. As it’s a girl group that Shinsadong Tiger, the popular composer who produced many hit songs for big idol groups, took care in producing, you can look forward to seeing EXID’s talent and potential.”

The Now Seven-Member T-ara to Stand on Stage For The First Time Since Hwa Young’s Departure

The now seven-member T-ara will be standing on stage for the first time since Hwa Young’s departure.

T-ara will stand on stage at the Yeosu Expo on August 1 as part of SBS’ K-Pop Yeosu Expo Super Concert as originally planned. As it is T-ara’s first performance and public appearance as a group since Hwa Young’s departure, many are curious to see how the new T-ara will be.

Aside from the Yeosu Expo concert, T-ara is currently not making any other schedules and has cancelled all music show program appearances this week.

In addition to T-ara, the Wonder Girls, f(x), SISTAR, After School, Secret, A Pink, ZE:A, B.A.P, Dal Shabet, Girls’ Day and EXO-K will also perform in the concert.

Stepping down just a little from his Gangnam Style quirkiness, Psy cheered on the Korean athletes currently putting all of their effort at the 2012 London Olympics.

Korea was created by Psy and the talented musicians at the Gugak Center, who beautifully played out the traditional sound of Korea in the background.

The music video, featured many Olympic sports, such as boxing, taekwondo, fencing, and more, and was filmed in one take, with Psy continuously following after the camera.
The video played like a giant flashmob, with more and more people coming into the frame and showing bits and pieces of Korea’s elaborate culture. The crowd impressively create the taeguki (Korean flag) at the end of the video.

Lee Joon Gi is Putting His All into ′Arang and the Magistrate′

New drama still cuts of Lee Joon Gi were released on July 30 for his upcoming MBC drama Arang and the Magistrate.

Playing magistrate Eun Oh, who has the ability to see ghosts, the images show Lee Joon Gi in blue hanbok complete with a gat, a traditional hat worn by men in the Joseon Dynasty.

A member of the drama’s production shared, “As it is Lee Joon Gi’s first production after being discharged from his military duties, he is putting all his energy into the production. Even in the short breaks in between, he immerses himself in the script and is showing a wide range of acting.”

Arang and the Magistrate premieres on August 15 on MBC.

2AM’s Lee Chang Min Wants to Learn Acting From Suzy

2AM’s Lee Chang Min has expressed his desire to learn acting from fellow JYP labelmate, Suzy of miss A.

The singer tweeted on July 27 saying, “The more I do so, the more it’s difficult to express myself naturally. Before I go on stage I’m seeing the script one last time... but I still have a long ways to go.”

The tweet was regarding Lee Chang Min’s current musical La Cage Aux Folles and the difficulties he found in his first musical role.

To this, Suzy responded, “La Cage Aux Folles fighting! Chang Min oppa fighting! which prompted Lee Chang Min to then reply, “I’m going to go and learn acting from you.”

SBS Producer Apologizes while MBC Producer Denies Making Statement about Hwa Young

After making a bold statement about not casting T-ara again, SBS producer Ryu Chul Min deleted his posts on Facebook and Twitter and apologized.

On July 30, Ryu Chul Min tweeted, “After seeing the T-ara’s articles, I felt bad for Hwa Young and wrote out my personal thoughts. I didn’t realize that my personal opinion would come off as an official statement. I apologize.”

At the same time, MBC producer Lee Sang Hyub also spoke up the statement saying that it was not he who commented on Ryu Chul Min’s post, but another person with the same name who did so.

MBC stated, “We would like to let you know that the ‘Lee Sang Hyub’ being mentioned in the media is not MBC producer Lee Sang Hyub but a person with the same name. The ‘Lee Sang Hyub’ working at MBC does not have Twitter, and has no relation to the Lee Sang Hyub’ in the articles.”

On July 30, Core Contents Media announced that Hwa Young will be exiting from the company without circumstances amidst rumors of bullying.

Hwa Young retorted to the announcement saying, “Facts with no truth,” creating a bigger stir amongst the T-ara fans.

SISTAR’s Dasom Becomes a High School Student In Her New Sitcom Role

New preview images of SISTAR′s Dasom in uniform were released on July 31 by KBS for the upcoming sitcom Shut Up Family.

As Dasom was born in 1993, it hasn′t been that long since the singer last wore her real high school uniform, and as such, she looks like a real high school students in the preview cuts.

In the sitcom, Dasom plays an angel-faced high school student who is first in academics in her school but is a bit of a delinquent.

Shut Up Family premieres on KBS on August 13.

T-ara′s So Yeon to Skip Tomorrow’s Press Conference for ‘Haeundae Lovers’

As the Hwa Young-T-ara controversy continues to grow, the T-ara members are continuing to be affected by the issue.

Member So Yeon is set to make her television drama debut through KBS’ Haeundae Lovers in August. Playing the role of the part time worker Lee Kwan Soon, many were anticipating the singer’s transformation into an actress.

Nonetheless, since the T-ara issue has come up netizens have begun flocking to the message board of Haeundae Lovers and calling on her to step down from the show.

The drama’s production has maintained it has no plans of kicking out So Yeon and has insisted the T-ara controversy has no connection with So Yeon being in the drama.

However, So Yeon will not be in attendance of Haeundae Lovers’ press conference, set to take place on August 1. .

The production source has insisted that So Yeon was not scheduled to attend the press conference from the beginning and the ongoing T-ara issue has no connection but others remain skeptical.

The other T-ara members including Hyo Min, Ji Yeon and Ham Eun Jung have also experienced similar backlashes in their respective television show homepages from netizens.

Haeundae Lovers will premiere on KBS on August 6.

CN Blue Releases Brand Song for T.G.I.Friday’s, ‘Friday’

CN Blue released its brand song Friday for the restaurant chain T.G.I.Friday’s.

Friday was composed and lyricized by Jung Yong Hwa, who has been recognized for his talent as a singer, actor, producer and composer, and invites its listeners to travel to a joyous place where they can enjoy fun Fridays every day. Its keywords include cocktails, parties, romance, freedom and fun.



A rep from the restaurant brand said about Friday, “A fitting brand song that will help T.G.I.Friday’s build a positive image as a joyful location of Fridays has been born. The restaurant is all about casual dining, so CN Blue’s brand song Friday will match the restaurant perfectly.”

CN Blue has also been trying out bartender roles through the special reality program It City – CN Blue’s Love On Party on the O’live channel.

Scenes from the Love On Party, which took place at a T.G.I.Friday’s, also appear in the music video for Friday.

FNC Entertainment’s first girl group, AOA (Ace of Angels), held its debut showcase on July 30 in Seoul.

The group comes from an agency that holds such prominent bands as CN Blue and FT Island, and its labelmate CN Blue has shown its support through Jung Yong Hwa and his self-penned single Love is Only You, listed in the group’s first single album.

AOA will continue to promote the album, titled Angels’ Story, with its first single cut Elvis. The group is a 7+1 member group, with seven angel aces, one half-angel and an extensive backstory.

AOA Says Its Members are Too Close

FNC Entertainment’s first girl group AOA (Ace Of Angels) emphasized that its members share very close ties.

The 7+1 member girl group AOA held its debut showcase in Seoul on July 30, and performed the band version and dance version of its first single cut Elvis, as well as Love is Only You, written by labelmate CN Blue’s Jung Yong Hwa.



In an interview with the press held after the performances, the AOA members said, “The members all try to understand each other. The problem is that they’re too kind.”

Member Jimin said, “We’ve lived together for a year, but we’ve never gotten in a fight. We all understand and like each other.”

The youngest member Chanmi said, “I was worried because I’ve never lived in a home like this, but the other members are all so kind we’ve never caused any trouble. We’ll continue to be on good terms with each other.”

Member Yuna said that the secret behind their teamwork was cooking and added, “Whenever we have the time Choa unni (big sister) cooks and everyone enjoys eating her food.”

A rep from FNC Entertainment said, “AOA is an eight member girl group that holds the seven angels Seolhyun, Choa, Hyejeong, Chanmi, Yuna, Mina and Jimin, and the half angel Youkyoung. They can both dance and play in a band, so we expect them to bring something new to K-Pop.”

AOA plans to debut through Mnet’s M Countdown on August 9, and will promote its debut single Elvis.

Kim Bum Soo to Perform in New York′s Carnegie Hall

Kim Bum Soo will be holding an exclusive concert in the hall of any singer′s dreams, the New York Carnegie Hall.

On October 20, Kim Bum Soo will be holding his concert 2012 Kim Bum Soo Concert - Get All Right Showchestra in New York.

The singer will fill the biggest main hall in the venue, the Stern Auditorium, with 2,400 seats.



The Carnegie Hall is rarely opened to popular singers, and is thus called the stage of every singer′s dreams. It was first opened in 1891, and boasts a 120 year long history featuring The Beatles, Rolling Stones and Mariah Carey.

Only four Korean singers, Cho Yong Pil, Patty Kim, Insooni and Lee Sun Hee, have performed in the venue. Kim Bum Soo will be the second male singer, following Cho Yong Pil, to perform.

In Korea, Kim Bum Soo performed in the Sejong Center of the Performing Arts, which is also rarely made available for popular singers.

A rep from Kim Bum Soo′s agency said, "K-Pop is currently booming across the world, and the appearance of Korea′s greatest vocalist, Kim Bum Soo, at the Carnegie Hall again heightens the status of K-Pop. We will make sure he puts together the best performance with his pride as a Korean."

Kim Bum Soo′s U.S. tour will continue through four cities in the country.

Reddit and Gawker Rave about Psy′s ′Gangnam Style′

If you are a fervent internet user, you’ve probably heard of Reddit and Gawker, which are US-based social news and gossip websites that are known for only featuring the internet’s most popular and worth-while media contents.

Well, it seems that Psy is taking the internet by storm, confidently landing on Reddit and Gawker.

A Reddit user submitted Psy’s Gangnam Style music video on the social website, saying, “Words cannot even describe how amazing this video is.”




With around 1000 comments, the Gangnam Style post on Reddit received more than 1700 up votes, showing that its users really enjoyed or found it interesting, and the video was posted on Reddit 70 times.

Likewise, on July 30, Gawker wrote up an article about the music video saying, ‘Did This Underground Hip Hop Artist from South Korea Just Release the Best Music Video of the Year?’

While Psy is not exactly an underground hip hop artist, the fact that his newest music video landed on one of Gawker’s pages proved to be a great feat for K-Pop as Gawker is one of most popular media blogs on the internet.

Big Bang has also made it onto Gawker awhile back, when the group was promoting Bad Boy.

[Photo] Skull & Haha to Bring Reggae Rythm to Korea

Newly formed reggae duo Skull & Haha released their first mini album YA MAN on July 30. The duo celebrated their album release with a showcase at the KT Olleh Square in Gwanghwamun on the same day, where they performed some of their new songs, including Waikiki Brothers and Busan Vacances.

The two artists are close friends of the same age, and have already even performed on MBC TV′s Infinity Challenge, but to a lackluster reception.

Although it is a fairly unknown genre of music in Korea, the two are back nontheless to spread their love for reggae once again.

Entertainer and singer Haha has a personal love for reggae, while Skull is a renown reggae veteran both in Korea and in the US. Skull is currently working with Mariah Carey′s brother Morgan Carey to prepare for his next US tour and album.
